Boy dies after falling through icy lake

DOuglas County, Colorado (KDVR) — A middle school-aged boy died after falling into an icy lake Tuesday.

According to the boy’s family members, he died on Thanksgiving Day at 1:32 p.m. after being placed on life support on Wednesday.

The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at Crystal Lake Park in Roxboro. The boy’s father said his son saved two girls and another boy who went to school with him after they fell into the snow. The boy ended up partially under the freezing water.

Neighbors described rushing to the scene to help. The other three children were unharmed, officials said, and neighbors helped them dry off and keep warm while rescuers responded.

A vigil for the boy will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday at Crystal Lake Park.
