TA Team Picks (November 24th)

Microsoft’s Black Friday 2022 sale on the Xbox Store is still in full swing, but that hasn’t stopped a new stack of games from receiving discounts on Xbox consoles and PC as well. Here’s what the TA news team thinks are good deals.

The massive Black Friday 2022 sale on the Xbox Store is still going on, offering discounts on nearly 1,000 games across the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC – many of which are the cheapest they’ve ever been. That hasn’t stopped the company from slashing the prices of plenty of other titles in this week’s Xbox sales, and as we try to do each week, the TA news team have been digging through everything to bring you their top picks. offer.

We invite you to join us on an adventure filled with magnificent creatures from a bygone era, vegetables with dishonest intentions, and mythical beasts that have awakened demonic forces to bring chaos to the world. If you succumb to the power of these impressive creatures, just use a big hole in the ground to practically suck them all up – video games; they don’t have to make sense!

Bargains from the latest Xbox sales

Heidi – Jurassic World Evolution – Deluxe Content

Okay, so there wasn’t much to buy for me, but then I saw all those Jurassic World Evolution nuggets in the DLC section: the Deluxe Content, the Carnivore Dinosaur Pack, the Cretaceous Dinosaur Pack, the Herbivore Dinosaur Pack, and the Raptor Squad Skin Collection. If you loved the game and, like me, wanted to get your claws on as many dinosaurs as possible, the Deluxe Content Pack would be your best bet to stop even more toothy terrors in the park. All Jurassic World Evolution DLC in this sale is 50% off, except for the Deluxe Content, which has a bigger 65% discount, offering five dinosaurs compared to the three offered in most other DLC packs. It’s a fun variety too: the Styracosaurus, Crichtonsaurus, Majungasaurus, Suchomimus and, my favorite of the bunch, Archaeornithomimus, all of which do a great job of fleshing out your park with a wider variety of dinos. I’m never sure I’ll get the full price DLC at around $11/£10, but with the Deluxe Content for Jurassic World Evolution at the lowest price we’ve seen yet, now could be a good time to to strike.

Luke – Rapboy commits tax evasion

Yes, I know it’s in Game Pass. And yes, I know you can blast through the game in just a few hours and unlock all Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion achievements. But what a few hours they are, and how many times are you allowed to play as a root vegetable troublemaker? Not often enough, I say, so we should clearly be throwing money at developer Snoozy Kazoo so we can get more adventures out of this little villain. One is already on the way – Turnip Boy Robs a Bank was announced earlier this year and is coming to Game Pass on day one – but I want more… more! This whimsical adventure is all about a mischievous little vegetable who can’t help but tear things to bits and though it’s short, it manages to squeeze a lot of fun (and silly) stuff into its short running time. Combat is extremely easy, exploration leads to all sorts of strange new places where crazy characters live, and some light puzzle elements are also thrown into the mix to spice things up a bit. Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion is thoroughly entertaining, always amusing and oftentimes hilarious, so I’d suggest picking up this indie quirk (or buzzing through it on Game Pass, if you haven’t already) – consider it as an investment in the foundation of a new gaming icon. And hey, you might as well give Turnip Boy your money before the petty crook takes it from you and rips it up in front of you…

Play as a cute but tricky turnip. Avoid paying taxes, solve plantastic puzzles and take on massive beasts in a journey to bring down a corrupt vegetable government!

Sean – Donut County

The Xbox sales after the massive Black Friday sale are always a bit lackluster, but that doesn’t mean there are decent games on offer. My pick this week is the lovely Donut County, which some of you may have already played, thanks to its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass. Donut County is a simple puzzle game – you play as a raccoon controlling a mysterious hole in the ground. Your job is to maneuver the hole to drop objects into it. With each object, the hole gets bigger and bigger until you swallow up cars and buildings – think of it as an anti-Katamari Damacy game. With this simple gameplay premise comes some humorous writing that had me chuckling throughout the game’s short running time. Completion here should only take you a few hours, maybe a little longer if you want to enjoy the game at a more relaxed pace, and all achievements are dead easy to unlock with guidebook clues. Donut County is 70% off this week and worth picking up if you’re not a Game Pass subscriber or just want a decent little puzzle game.

Donut County is a story-based physics puzzle game where you play as an ever-expanding hole in the ground. Meet cute characters, steal their garbage and throw them in a hole.

Tom – Shadow Warrior 3

Right after my Evil West review, I’ve decided to give Flying Wild Hog’s action-packed Shadow Warrior 3 a shout-out. If you’re not familiar with the series, all you need to know is that it’s full of over-the-top first-person action sequences, even more extreme potty talk, a storyline that only makes sense to Lo Wang, the protagonist, and a beautiful killer. soundtrack to round it off nicely. You can check out my Shadow Warrior 3 impressions from earlier this year, but honestly it’s a game that’s experienced better than described – just check out that trailer! It’s currently 50% off the price, making it a great value for about ten hours of chaotic fun.
