Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarship is officially open for the academic year 2023/2024. Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarships are fully funded scholarships for international students who wish to study in Germany.
The scholarship department is funded by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt) Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarship is available for both Masters and PhD degree programs.
These scholarships will provide 1350 € per month. Additional lump sum payments of €100 are also provided to cover research costs and further healthcare grants.
The maximum duration of the scholarship is based on the average time or number of semesters of your studies (Regelstudienzeit).
The scholarship is first awarded for one year until the conditions are met. Extensions beyond the Regelstudienzeit are possible.
The scholarship department of the Rosa-Luxemburg Stiftung provides scholars with a wide range of support, consisting of political educational events and summer courses, workshops conducted both locally and internationally, symposiums and educational trips.

Rosa Luxembourg Stiftung Scholarship Advantages
For Masters
- The monthly basic grant consists of €850 together with a fixed amount of €20.
- health and nursing insurance not exceeding 86€.

For doctorate
- The doctoral scholarship is largely independent of one’s income and amounts to 1350€ per month.
- 100€ to cover research costs and further healthcare grants.

Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarship
To be eligible for Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Scholarship, the following is required
- Required language: Good knowledge of English. German language skills (level B2 or higher)
- Eligible Countries: All countries in the world. Preference will be given to women, students from non-academic and migrant backgrounds, socially deprived and disabled people, with achievement and commitment.
- Applications from undergraduate and postgraduate students from scientific and engineering disciplines are actively encouraged, as well as from graduates of technical colleges.
- Applications are only accepted in German or English language
- MA students must be enrolled at a state or state-recognized German university
- PhD students must be admitted to a German university
- Proof of enrollment (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) for the next semester or at least a letter of admission (Zulassung) from a German university.
- Your registration must be documented no later than the time the scholarship commences
- Basic knowledge of the German language (further lessons can be sponsored by us). In any case, very good knowledge of the English language
- Activities in social, political and/or community service.
The selection criteria are:
- High scientific and professional qualifications (evidence of above-average academic performance at school and/or university)
- Political and social engagement in line with the objectives of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung
- German language skills (level B2 or higher).
