NSFAS has several meanings of application status. When registering for the National Student Financial Support Scheme, one may encounter one of the following statuses;
Request submitted: When the status of your NSFAS application is displayed ‘Request submitted’ it means your NSFAS application has been successfully submitted and received on the National Student Financial Aid Scheme online portal.
Filter: Status of the NSFAS application is displayed ‘Filter’ means that the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) carries out checks to determine if you are a new applicant or returning applicant.
Validation: Status of the NSFAS application is displayed ‘Validation’ means that the National Student Financial Aid Scheme has access to your information to determine whether or not you are a qualified beneficiary.
Eligibility for financing: When the status of your NSFAS application is displayed ‘Eligibility’ it means that NSFAS obtains information to determine whether your household information submitted through the NSFAS application is eligible for funding.
Pending Academic Result or Admission: NSFAS application status displayed ‘Awaiting study result or admission’ means that NSFAS verifies your academic information from the instruction or university where you are a student or where you have been admitted.
Pending registration: The status of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme application is displayed ‘Pending registration’ means that NSFAS is waiting for your facility or the university to provide your registration information.
Signing agreement: NSFAS application status is displayed ‘Signing Agreement’ means the National Student Financial Aid Scheme requires you to sign your NSFAS scholarship agreement before they can send you funding.
Payment: When the status of your NSFAS application is displayed ‘Payment’ it means your money has been paid. If your status currently indicates payment, you can withdraw your funds from your NSFAS wallet.

To check My NSFAS Status 2022, you need to visit the official NSFAS website, login to your My NSFAS account and check your status.
- Visit www.nsfas.org.za
- Click MyNSFAS Account
- Enter your MyNSFAS account credentials (username and password) to login
- Click Track Funding Progress’
- Your status will then be displayed

- Click the MyNSFAS tab
- enter your username and password
- Click Enter
- Log in to your NSFAS account.
To log in to your NSFAS account and check your NSFAS status, visit the official NSFAS website.
On the NSFAS website, click the MyNSFAS tab. When the next page appears, enter your username and password.
