His son not welcome. King Charles reportedly banned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. A source close to the new reigning monarch told the Daily Beast about the future plans of what the king wants to do with his son and daughter-in-law.
The source referred to Edward VIII’s abdication as a precedent for why King Charles would banish his son. “The royals solved the abdication crisis by banishing Edward, which meant that he and Wallis ended up appearing unimportant, misguided, disloyal and even treacherous individuals to almost all of the British people. It was a masterly operation in which the Queen Mother in particular worked tirelessly.” The source continued: “The same is already happening with Harry and Meghan and will only increase in the coming years under the reign of King Charles. And, of course, a wayward second son is far less of an existential threat to the fabric of the monarchy than a wayward king.”
Another source who previously worked at Buckingham Palace also revealed the logistics of the coronation and how it will further fuel Harry and Meghan’s exile. “Harry and Meghan will be invited to the coronation, but they will sit firmly on the cheap seats with them.” [Princesses] Beatrice and Eugenie, as they were at the funeral. That must be it. Charles will be ruthless when it comes to protecting the Crown, which means Harry and Meghan must stay as far from the center of gravity as possible,” the former staffer said.Read:Hailey Bieber has spoken to Selena Gomez since marrying Justin
The exile update came amid reports that Meghan and Harry were still uncomfortable with the royal family after Queen Elizabeth’s death. Royal pundit Christopher Andersen explained to Us Weekly on September 13, 2022, “Harry and a Meghan are still uncomfortable.” He continued: “We saw that in a recent interview Meghan gave. It will take a lot, I think, to bring those things back to where they were, and it’s all sad.”
Andersen references Meghan’s latest interview with The Cut, where she talks about the restrictions The Firm placed on her before she and Prince Harry resigned from their royal family duties. “There is literally a structure whereby if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you must first give them to the Royal Rota,” The suits alum explained about the British press. “Why should I give the people who call my children the N-word a picture of my child before I can share it with the people who love my child. You tell me how that makes sense and then I play that game.”
Harry and Meghan left their royal duties in 2020 and then moved to California. Although they have appeared at several British events such as Prince Philip’s funeral and the Queen’s platinum anniversary, they still have a rock relationship with the Royals. For the first time in a long time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared in public with Prince William and Kate Middleton shortly after the Queen’s death. The newly appointed Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex watched the tributes paid to the late Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle together. Kensington Palace says William invited his brother and sister-in-law to join him and Kate. Earlier in the day, William attended his father’s proclamation as king. The couples who were all in black looked fondly at the flowers and messages of support to the Queen and her family. “We are all very grateful – both sides are putting everything aside for the Queen,” a royal source told Page Six.Read:Shania Twain Reveals Why Dinner With Oprah Winfrey ‘Went Sour’ Over Touchy Topic
