Royal Family: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face dilemma over accepting award | Royal | News

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in a “difficult position” in accepting a human rights award, a royal expert has claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will receive the Ripple of Hope award for their “heroic” stand against “structural racism” in the monarchy at a December 6 ceremony hosted by the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Foundation.

But former royal correspondent Jennie Bond said the couple, who live in the US after stepping down from royal duties, face a dilemma in accepting the award as it risks further tension with the royal family.

Ms Bond told GB News: “It’s put the Sussexes in a rather difficult position I think. Are they saying no, won’t we even acknowledge you’re offering this award? Are we going to take it personally? Maybe the middle ground is to get it just accept, but not insist on, something.

“I think if they go along and accept this award on a public stage, yes, it will make things worse, the divide could be even deeper.”
