Musk says Twitter to launch gold, grey checks alongside blue verified mark

Nov 25 (Reuters) – Twitter will roll out verified gold and gray checks on the relaunch of the coveted blue check service this Friday, CEO Elon Musk said in a tweet, after delaying the rollout earlier this week.

“Gold check for corporations, gray check for governments, blue for individuals (celebrities or not). Painful, but necessary,” Musk said in a tweet.

All verified accounts are manually verified before the check is activated, Musk said.

“Individuals may have a secondary small logo to show they belong to an organization, provided it has been verified as such by that organization,” Musk said in another tweet, adding that he will provide a longer explanation next week.

The company had paused its recently announced $8 blue check subscription service when fake accounts started to proliferate, and had said that the sought-after blue check subscription service will be relaunched on November 29. read more

The blue check mark was previously reserved for verified accounts of politicians, well-known personalities, journalists and other public figures.
